"Little Voices, Big Lessons – My Phase Two Teaching Journey, seventh week”

Image
Day 27 Today marked the twenty-seventh day of my teaching practice , which also coincided with January 26, the Republic Day of India . The school celebrated the occasion with great patriotism by conducting an NCC parade , flag hoisting , and distribution of sweets to the students. The programme created a sense of national pride and unity among the students and teachers. Being part of this celebration was a memorable and meaningful experience for me in my teaching practice journey. Day 28 Today marked the twenty-eighth day of my teaching practice . I distributed the achievement test marks to the students and clarified their doubts related to the questions. I also conducted a revision session on the questions that most students had answered incorrectly, helping them understand their mistakes and the correct methods. This session was very useful for the students and helped me realize the importance of feedback and revision in improving learning and strengthening conceptual clarit...

Learning Algebra Creatively: An Innovative Work on Degree of a Polynomial

Image
As part of my B.Ed innovative work, I designed and implemented an activity-based learning model on the topic “Degree of a Polynomial.” The main aim of this work was to transform an abstract algebraic concept into a simple, visual, and meaningful learning experience for students. The model used charts, flash cards, and interactive activities to help learners identify variables, exponents, and the highest power in polynomial expressions. Through group work, guided discussions, and classification activities, students learned to distinguish between linear, quadratic, cubic, and higher-degree polynomials in an engaging way. This innovative approach encouraged active participation, conceptual understanding, and joyful learning. Students showed improved confidence in algebra and better clarity of concepts. The activity proved to be an effective, learner-centered teaching-learning experience, highlighting the value of innovative pedagogy in mathematics education.

Day 22 Today marked the twenty-second day of my teaching practice. I handled two periods in class 9D. I taught and solved problems related to the total surface area of a prism step by step with the students. Students actively participated and practiced the problems. By the end of the two periods, I successfully completed the topic area of a prism as planned. This session helped me understand the importance of practice and revision in consolidating learning. I realized that continuous problem-solving builds confidence and improves accuracy in mathematics. Overall, the class was productive and effective. Day 23 Today marked the twenty-third day of my teaching practice. I got two periods in class 9D. I introduced the concept of a cylinder and explained its parts clearly. Then I taught the formula for the volume of a cylinder and solved a few problems related to the topic with the students. Students actively participated and showed interest in learning the new concept. This sessi...

"Little Voices, Big Lessons – My Phase Two Teaching Journey, fifth week”

Day 18 Today marked the eighteenth day of my teaching practice . During the second period, the class teacher conducted a bag checking, due to which about a quarter of an hour of my period was lost. However, I effectively used the remaining time to solve problems based on the area of a sector and successfully completed the chapter Parts of Circles . The experience helped me understand the importance of utilizing available time efficiently and being flexible in classroom situations. Day 19 Today marked the nineteenth day of my teaching practice. I got two periods in class 9D. In the first period, I used the Concept Attainment Model by providing examples and non-examples to help students attain the concept of prisms and their different bases. Students actively observed, compared, and identified the defining attributes. In the second period, I explained the concept and formula for the volume of a prism with suitable examples. Students participated actively and showed good understa...

“Learning Made Visible: Cognitive Maps on Matrices and Statistics”

Image
As part of my B.Ed. academic work, I prepared two cognitive maps to visually organise and connect key mathematical concepts. These maps were designed to represent structured thinking, conceptual clarity, and meaningful learning. The two selected topics— Matrices and Statistics —were chosen to show how complex mathematical ideas can be simplified through visual representation, helping learners build strong conceptual understanding and logical connections. 🧩 Cognitive Map 1: Matrices The cognitive map on Matrices presents the topic in a systematic and learner-friendly structure. It includes core concepts such as definition of matrices, types of matrices,  matrix operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication). The map shows clear interconnections between concepts, helping students understand relationships rather than isolated facts. This visual organisation supports conceptual clarity, logical sequencing, and better retention of knowledge. It also promotes analytical thinking ...

Day 16 Today marked the sixteenth day of my teaching practice . I did not get a teaching period today as the Mathematics teacher was engaged in distributing the Christmas examination question papers to the students. While observing the process, I noticed that most of the students showed improvement in their performance, which reflected their understanding of the concepts taught. This observation gave me a sense of satisfaction and reinforced the importance of consistent teaching and practice in achieving better learning outcomes. Day 17 Today marked the seventeenth day of my teaching practice . I handled two periods in class 9D , during which I introduced the topic angles and arcs from the chapter Parts of Circles . I explained the concepts clearly and solved problems related to the topic with the students. The students actively participated and were able to understand the concepts, making the session productive and encouraging.
