Day 18
Today marked the eighteenth day of my teaching practice. During the second period, the class teacher conducted a bag checking, due to which about a quarter of an hour of my period was lost. However, I effectively used the remaining time to solve problems based on the area of a sector and successfully completed the chapter Parts of Circles. The experience helped me understand the importance of utilizing available time efficiently and being flexible in classroom situations.
Day 19
Today marked the nineteenth day of my teaching practice. I got two periods in class 9D. In the first period, I used the Concept Attainment Model by providing examples and non-examples to help students attain the concept of prisms and their different bases. Students actively observed, compared, and identified the defining attributes. In the second period, I explained the concept and formula for the volume of a prism with suitable examples. Students participated actively and showed good understanding.
This session helped me understand the effectiveness of the Concept Attainment Model in introducing new mathematical concepts. I realized that allowing students to identify characteristics on their own leads to deeper understanding. Overall, the class enhanced my confidence in using different teaching models effectively.
Day 20
Today marked the twentieth day of my teaching practice. I solved problems related to the volume of a prism step by step and explained the procedure clearly. Students were encouraged to participate and solve similar problems on their own, which helped strengthen their understanding.
This session helped me realize the importance of practice in mastering mathematical concepts. I learned that guided problem-solving builds students’ confidence and improves accuracy. Overall, the class was effective and productive.
Day 21
Today marked the twenty-first day of my teaching practice. Since my class was observed by my optional subject teacher, I carefully prepared the lesson to introduce the topic lateral surface area and total surface area of a prism. I introduced the topic through a story, which helped in gaining students’ attention and creating curiosity. I explained the concepts of lateral surface area and total surface area of a prism with clear examples and student interaction. The class was observed by my optional teacher, and the students actively participated throughout the session. At the end of the class, my teacher appreciated the session and marked it as a “very good” class.
This experience boosted my confidence and reinforced the importance of proper preparation and creative teaching strategies. I realized that storytelling can be an effective method to introduce abstract mathematical concepts. The positive feedback motivated me to improve further and strive for excellence in my teaching practice.
