Learning Algebra Creatively: An Innovative Work on Degree of a Polynomial

As part of my B.Ed innovative work, I designed and implemented an activity-based learning model on the topic “Degree of a Polynomial.” The main aim of this work was to transform an abstract algebraic concept into a simple, visual, and meaningful learning experience for students.

The model used charts, flash cards, and interactive activities to help learners identify variables, exponents, and the highest power in polynomial expressions. Through group work, guided discussions, and classification activities, students learned to distinguish between linear, quadratic, cubic, and higher-degree polynomials in an engaging way.

This innovative approach encouraged active participation, conceptual understanding, and joyful learning. Students showed improved confidence in algebra and better clarity of concepts. The activity proved to be an effective, learner-centered teaching-learning experience, highlighting the value of innovative pedagogy in mathematics education.
